Citizens Alliance
The Alliance has an immediate opening for a skilled full-time organizer
to work with members, state and national allies to develop and implement
strategies to advance the national campaign, “Invest in America’s
Future. The campaign advances economic justice by promoting public investment
in education, healthcare and the environment and opposing the war in Iraq.
Major Responsibilities
• Build relationships with local coalition partners, activists and
opinion leaders to support the goals of the national and state campaigns
• Develop and maintain communication with coalition partners
• Regularly develop comprehensive work plans for the campaigns based
on the circumstances of the legislative and electoral cycle
• Plan and execute events designed to motivate and engage elected
officials
• Implement or oversee implementation of the work plans
• Develop materials as needed
• Engage Alliance members in campaign activities

Specific Tasks
• Participate in weekly update and planning calls with national
and regional partners.
• Develop and execute plans for state-level actions and activities
coordinated with national timelines. These may include press conferences,
report releases, call-in days to key decision-makers, voter education
campaigns, strategy meetings with allies and/or testimony at legislative
hearings.
• Engage allies to take public stands on the issues, participate
in events (such as speak at press conferences), and educate and involve
their leadership and membership.
• Engage Alliance members and leaders to take public stands on the

educate other members about the issues.
• Conduct earned media work with support from national partners.
Activities include writing, revising and distributing press releases,
organizing letter-to-the-editor drives and placing op-eds in major newspapers
with credible spokespeople.
• Document activities and outcomes, compile summaries of media coverage,
and submit weekly and quarterly reports highlighting recent accomplishments
and laying out upcoming plans.
Skills and Qualities Needed:
• Experience working in and/or helping to build coalitions
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle
a variety of projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• 2-5 years experience in grassroots organizing and/or voter mobilization
• Ability to work with diverse groups
• Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint; comfortable
using web-based technology
• Experience participating in voter education efforts desirable
• Basic understanding of legislative and electoral process preferred
• Must have own transportation; statewide travel required

Mountain Teen Project Youth Counselor, Educator, Prevention Counselor
Appalachian Mountain Teen Project is a youth and community development
program based in Wolfeboro, NH. AMTP works collaboratively with youth,
parents, educators and the community to strengthen self-esteem, foster
resilience, enrich opportunities, and develop stable, secure relationships
in the lives of young people who face difficult life circumstances.
Core Responsibilities:
• Forge trusting, long-term one-to-one relationships with referred
youth (ages 12-18) through weekly counseling/mentoring sessions at school
• Develop and sustain open, empowering relationships with each teen’s
parents and families through close contact, home visits, partnership and
advocacy
• Build collaborative relationships with key adults and systems
in teens’ lives: school staff, health care providers, and local
neighborhood and community partners
• Co-lead peer-group activities: outdoor adventure trips, community
service projects, career and higher education exploration and leadership
development
• Co-teach a classroom-based social development and diversity awareness
curriculum using literature and experiential activities in area elementary
and middle schools

Qualifications:

Early
Childhood Special Projects Coordinator
SCOPE OF WORK: To evaluate work procedures and to plan the development
and modification of data, policies and procedures from National and State
sources for use in planning and developing a comprehensive systems approach
to early childhood Title V programming. This includes effective home visiting,
family support and special projects programming through the management
of federal and state funding or grants, evaluation of work procedures
and the development and modification of policies, data, procedures and
guidelines for these state programs.
ACCOUNTABILIES:
Prepares applications and progress reports to the federal government relative
to the Title V home visiting program and Early Childhood Comprehensive
Systems (ECCS).
Develops new program initiatives, procedures, standards, and guidelines
relative to early childhood, home visiting and family support based on
best practices supported by research in collaboration with state and federal
experts.
Prepares and reviews proposals and contracts for the delivery of home
visiting and family support services, including child care health consultation.
Researches and prepares applications for funding from federal and other
sources to support special projects including home visiting, child care
health consultation and ECCS.
Develops home visiting program budget and determines resource allocation
to community agencies and monitors expenditures of program funds at the
state and community level to maintain fiscal accountability.
Analyzes data from community programs and prepares reports summarizing
the effectiveness of current home visiting and early childhood programs
and makes recommendations for adaptations based on findings.
Evaluates and monitors all aspects of Title V early childhood program
grants to contract agencies to assess adherence to program policies, and
plans the development and modification of policies and procedures relating
to home visiting.
Prepares and delivers presentations to professional groups relative to
program findings.
Supervises professional and support staff including hiring, firing, interviewing,
performance evaluation, task delegation and overseeing individual work
responsibilities to ensure optimum staff performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree from a recognized college or university
with a major study in education, social work, public health, health education
or a health profession. Each additional year of approved formal education
may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Four years’ professional experience in education, social
work, public health, health education or a health profession, with responsibilities
in program research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
OR
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a
major study in education, social work, public health, health education
or a health profession.
Experience: Five years’ professional experience in education, social
work, public health, health education or a health profession, with responsibilities
in program research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Each additional
year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required
formal education.
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation
for use in statewide travel.
Special Qualification: Experience in the areas of home visiting or family
support preferred.

Vice President of Development – New Hampshire American Cancer Society,
New England Division
The Vice President will:
• Work collaboratively with State VP for Cancer Control, State Government
Relations and Advocacy Director, and centralized Development staff to
develop annual state income development action plan and budget focused
on raising net dollars to fund our mission, assuming a strategic link
between State and Division Development plans. Ratio of fundraising to
management costs not to exceed 25%.
• Hire, train and supervise field Development staff.
• Develop an environment in which “volunteer management”
is clearly the acceptable mode of operations.
• Ensure the capture of comprehensive and accurate donor and volunteer
records.
• Utilize CRM as a critical business process to achieve the volunteer/staff
partnership objective, and focuses on the lifetime value of our donors
is a key metric.
• Establish and implement an action plan that matches the Society’s
New England income development products (i.e., special events) with appropriate
markets, and measures performance based on market penetration as well
as net income raised.
• Identify opportunities to engage diverse populations and communities
in income development initiatives.
• Work with Marketing and Communications on statewide cause-related
marketing and sponsorship/underwriting opportunities.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education
and experience; MBA preferred.
• Five to seven years fundraising experience, including at least
three years of management; extensive knowledge of the development model.
Prior experience in leading a team and managing staff is critical.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
with community, corporate/foundation leaders, donors and volunteers.
• Experience in planning, analytical skills, and the ability to
translate data are desired.
• Ability to successfully operate in a team matrix structure is
a must.
• Travel throughout state and to attend Division meetings required.
